Straight from the region of Polynesia, this tropically drink is in overall, the juice and citrus combination make this drink bright and fruity, while the orgeat and miracle berry from richberry add depth and richness. Switching from sour-bitter flavour to sweeter taste without even the use of any sweet syrup.
Ingredients:
1½ oz (44 ml) bourbon or rye whiskey
1½ oz (44 ml) fresh pineapple juice
½ oz (15 ml) fresh lemon juice
½ oz (15 ml) fresh orange juice
½ oz (15 ml) Orgeat
Orchid, for garnish
Method:
In a blender pitcher, combine the whiskey, pineapple juice, lemon juice, orange juice, orgeat and 6 to 8 ounces (170 to 227 g) of crushed ice and blend. Pour into a goblet and garnish with the orchid.
Mocktail (non-alcoholic): If you wish to have a delicious non-alcoholic version, please feel free to take the alcohol out and follow the same procedure.
Consume Miracle Berry: Just before digging in, chew 1 or more freeze-dried miracle berry (this can also be done during the preparation of ingredients). Ensure to remove pits to avoid a bitter taste.
Fact: The active ingredient miraculin from miracle berry will turn sour foods such as lemon, lime, orange, grapefruit, non-fat yoghurt and other citrus food to taste sweet without adding sugar. We recommend two halves or 2 servings for maximum effectiveness. Make sure to follow instructions from the back of the packaging.
