While this recipe contains raw eggs, we don't recommend this to people with allergic reactions, pregnant and lactating women, old people and the kids. We especially remove the use of sugar to create a candy-like natural taste from richberry.
Ingredients:
1 (9 inch) prepared graham cracker crust
1 (14 ounce) can milk
3 large egg yolks egg yolks
½ cup lemon juice
3 large egg whites egg whites
Directions:
Step 1 Preheat broiler to 500 degrees F (260 degrees C).
Step 2 In a medium mixing bowl beat together condensed milk, egg yolks, and lemon juice. Pour mixture into graham cracker crust.
Step 3 In a separate glass or metal mixing bowl, beat egg whites until stiff peaks form. Spread evenly on top of lemon filling.
Step 4 Brown in preheated broiler just until meringue is set and golden. Keep pie refrigerated.
Consume Miracle Berry:
Just before digging in, chew 1 or more freeze-dried miracle berry (this can also be done during the preparation of ingredients). Ensure to remove pits to avoid a bitter taste.
Fact:
The active ingredient miraculin from miracle berry will turn sour foods such as lemon, lime, orange, grapefruit, non-fat yoghurt and other citrus food to taste sweet without adding sugar. We recommend two halves or 2 servings for maximum effectiveness. Make sure to follow instructions from the back of the packaging.
Note: Sometimes you may need to add at least 5-7% of the total quantity of sugar required, this is due to the chemistry of the food, however, you may skip this as you wish. The goal is to totally reduce sugar and yet experience the same taste.
